FREE Printable Spring Umbrella Counting Crafts for Preschoolers
Spring is the perfect time to make cute counting crafts for preschoolers! This umbrella craft helps preschool, pre-k, and kindergarten age children practice counting while making and adorable umbrella craft. In the spring kids start to get ancy as the warmer days call for them to go play outdoors. And I’m all for lots of play time and lots of time enjoing nature and freshair. But that doesn’t mean you still can’t learn. Whether you do this cute umbrella craft for preschool on a rainy day, in the afternoon when kids need a little break from all the fun, or as part of a fun letter u or u is for umbrella unit – this counting craft for preschool is sure to keep kids happily counting! Parents, teachers, and homeschoolers wil love using number crafts for preschoolers to practice an important skill while allowing kids to have FUN! Use this spring craft for kids at home, daycare, or in your classroom to enjoy some spring math!
Preschool umbrella craft
All you need to make this fun counting craft for kids are a few simple materials you probably already have laying around your house:
- white paper plate
- pipe cleaner – we used black
- markers in various colors
- string
- tape
- scissors
- beads – we used blue so they look like rain
Umbrella Crafts
The first step is to cut the paper plate in half. Now use your scissors to cut little scallops along the flat edge so there are 6Â points.

Using a marker draw a line from each of the points to the top middle. We also traced around the entire plate edges to make it pop. Then number each quodrant 1-5 on half of the plate and on the other half 6-10.
Number crafts for preschool
Use crayons, markers, or colored pencils to color in each section of the umbrella. You can use any colors you like or shades of colors.
Umbrella craft for toddlers
Now comes the math craft part. Turn your craft over and attach about 4″ of string hanging off the bottom of each of the numbered sections using your tape.
Umbrella activities for preschool
Now looking at the front side again, count the correct number of rain drops, beads, to fall on each section of the umbrella. So under the red section with the number 1 we added one bead to the string and tied a note so the bead didn’t fall off. Continue with the other sections for both of your umbrella parts.
Attach a pipe cleaner to the back of the project with tape and curve the end to be the umbrella handle.
