Frankenworms Halloween Science Experiment

You’ve probably heard of the dancing raisins science project, well seeing as those it’s October and Halloween is just around the corner I decided to make a more relevant theme. This frankenworms experiment demonstrates the same chemical reaction with baking soda and vinegar, but with fun halloween activities. This halloween science experiment is perfect for all ages from toddler, preschool, pre-k, kindergarten, first grade, 2nd grade, 3rd grade, and up.

Get ready to delight your children with a super EASY and silly halloween experiment for kids. This frankenworms experiment is a halloween theme project or twist on the classic baking soda and vinegar experiment. All you need are a couple simple materials and you are ready for some memorable and fun halloween science. This halloween activities for preschoolers, kindergartners, toddlers, grade 1, grade 2, and grade 3 students is perfect for a not-so-spooky activity in October.

Halloween Activities for Preschoolers

All you need to try this dancing worms experiment are a few simple materials:

  • gummy worms
  • baking soda
  • water
  • vinegar
  • 2 clear glasses
  • scissors or knife
  • chopsticks or fork

Halloween Science Experiment

Use scissors or a knife to cut the gummy worms in quarters lengthwise. This step is important so you get more wiggling, jiggling FUN! Without trimming the gummyworm’s girth, they will be too heavy to pu ton the best show they could.

Pour 1 cup of water into one of the glasses. Add 3 tablespoons of baking soda and stir. Finally drop in 4-6 gummy worm sections  to the baking soda solution and let them soak for at least 20 minutes.

After your gummy worms have soaked,  Pour vinegar into the other glass.Using a pair of chopsticks or a fork, carefully pick up a gummy worm and drop it into the vinegar solution.
