This ghost activities for kids are perfect for your halloween theme in Octoboer. Ghost Experiment
All you need to try this silly and educational ghost experiment for kids are a few simple materials you probably already have on hand:
- balloon – any color
- tissue paper
- black marker
Halloween Science Experiment
Create your ghosts by cutting small ghosts out of the tissue paper (like the kind you add to gifts). If you don’t have any tissue paper on hand you can use this with Kleenex, just make sure you separate and only use one ply if you have 2-ply tissues in your house.
Draw on eyes using a black marker.
Halloween Science
Blow up a balloon and tie it off. Rub the balloon rapidly on your hair for 15 – 20 seconds. Hold the balloon a few inches above the ghosts and lower until the ghosts begin to rise.
Ghost Activities for Kids
Slowly pull the balloon up so that the ghosts are standing up, but not touching anything.
Halloween Activities
HINT: The easiest way to make the ghost rise without it sticking to the balloon is to tape the very tip of the bottom of the ghost to a table.
Halloween Activities for Preschoolers
So how does this work? Well, when you rub the balloon on your hair, invisible electrons (with a negative charge) build up on the surface of the balloon. These electrons have the power to pull very light objects like a balloon (who have a positive charge) toward them. This pull of oppsite charged electrons causes the ghost to move with the tensions.
