Earth Day Puffy Paint Crafts for Preschoolers
Who else loves puffy paint? I just LOVE it. Not only how it turns out, but painting with it too – it is so fluffy and squishy. It makes me want to grab a fist full and play with it. I don’t, because I don’t love messes but it makes me consider it. So when we wanted to do an Earth Day craft for kids, I just knew that puffy paint needed to be involved somehow! Make cute earth day crafts for preschoolers with this puffy paint earth day craft for toddler, preschool, pre-k, kindergarten, and first grade students. You will love simple it is to make this earth day art.
Earth day crafts for preschoolers
Puffy paint is a super easy art substance to make. With only a few ingredients, you’ll not only have a creative art activity but also a sensory activity. Your children can absolutely paint with puffy paint with their fingers, a paint brush or like we did with a popsicle stick. This earth day craft for preschoolers uses a simple shaving cream puffy paint recipe to make a really easy puffy paint earth day craft. This planet earth crafts for preschool is handy for not for celebrating Earth Day on April 22, but for learning about planets in the solar system too. This is a fun earth craft preschool for toddlers, preschoolers, kindergartners, and grade 1 students.
Puffy Paint Earth Day CraftÂ
For this earth day craft, you’ll need:
- Shaving cream
- Glitter Glue (Blue & Green)
- 2 Bowls
- 2 Popsicle Sticks
- Paper Plate

We chose a paper plate with a raised rim, which was super helpful for keeping the paint on the paper plate, but any paper plate will work just fine.
Start by putting equal parts glitter glue and shaving cream into the two bowls. One bowl being green while the other is blue. If you don’t have glitter glue, you can use white glue and shaving cream, then add food coloring or paint. We found glitter glue and thought that would be extra fun, though.Â

Stir the mixture until it is completely combined.Â
We didn’t draw a template onto the paper plate, but you absolutely can. Especially for younger children. My daughter is older but she wishes that I had drawn a template because she thought hers didn’t look like an earth when she was done. This is totally up to you.
Use the popsicle sticks to paint the mixture onto the paper plate. I found it easiest if I plopped a gob onto the plate and then spread it around, like you would frosting on a cake. This was so satisfying also!Â

Keep the green parts for the land and the blue is the water, so I tried to make it look somewhat like the real earth, but it is definitely not an accurate depiction.Â
When you’re done, set the paper plate aside and allow it to dry.

It will dry puffy and almost look textured. One thing to note, you or your children may want to touch the dried puffy paint. It kinda calls out to you ‘poke me’, but it will ‘pop’ the fluffiness and ruin it if it’s touched too much or too hard.Â
