Fish Craft for Preschool
All you need to make this simpler paper craft for kids are a few simple materials:
- fish template (at bottom of post)
- various shades of blue and/or green construction paper
- scissors
- glue
- markers, crayons, or colored pencils
Fish Art Preschool
Cut out strips or rectangular blocks of construction paper with several slits in them.
Fish Arts and Crafts
Make accordian folds of the strips of colored paper by folding a small section to the front, next section to the back until you get to about 1-3″ from the bottom.
HINT: Having slightly different depths at the bottom and varrying fold marks just adds to the interest and beauty of this fish art project!
Paper Fish Craft
Pick you background color and hold it horizontally (so it is more wide than tall). Make sure you have enough accordian folded colored paper to cover the entire width.
Easy Fish Craft
Now color the fish you’d like to add to your ocean scene – their are lots of free printable fish template choices in the fish printable at the bottom of the post. You can use crayons, markers, colored pencils, etc. to colour and decorate your fish. Personally, I love the BOLD colors you get with markers.
Fish Craft for Kids
Now put glue on the bottom of the paper only and glue the seaweed onto the blue paper. You want the sea weed to have slightly different heights so trim accordingly, with some more tightly folded than others, and kind of floppy for effect.
Simple Fish Craft
Now glue the fish in the blue lake, pond, or ocean water. Some fish might be slightly behind the seaweed. Get creative, this is your project. Their is no right or wrotng way to make this cute aquarium craft.
Free printable crafts
We used blue markers to make little circles in on the paper to represent the bubbles from the fish. I think it added just a little interest and texture to the project.
Isn’t that such a cute fish craft!? I just love how it turned out and that it is easy enough for young kids to make themseles!
